With the recent rise in 'staycations' the city's economy may improve, and the result may be an improved experience for visitors as local entrepreneurs take advantage of the incoming money.
In season the beach will be quite crowded, but if it's a traditional good old fashioned day out at the seaside that you want, a queue for your fish and chips is only to be expected. www.wikipedia.org
Bridlington
If you fancy a traditional day out at the seaside but you want somewhere a bit smaller, then Bridlington, with a population of only 33,000 nay be just the ticket. Originally a fishing port, the seafront is of the traditional pastel coloured variety, and with the tide out, there is quite an expanse of sand.

The sanctuary in Mablethorpe is home to many rescued animals, not just seals, the list includes foxes, badgers, and birds of prey. This is a rare opportunity to get a glimpse of seals close-up, both common and grey seals are regularly rescued, and the sanctuary often has orphaned pups in its care.
A great place for children and adults to visit, it does have an educational angle which is another bonus, the kids get to learn something, as well as get a close peek at those big furry doe-eyed creatures. www.thesealsanctuary.com
